Keene Trust - Pre-Filling Keene Claim Forms
The CPF has an extensive database of claimant information
that has been compiled during the processing of EPI claims. The Keene TDP specifically
allows that information from other trusts can be used to provide claim information to the
Keene Trust. The benefits to claimants and their attorneys include:
Much of the data entry and individual filing can be
avoided by electronically transferring the data
Keene claims can be filed in-bulk using existing CPF data
Positive review results can automatically be used to
expedite the review process, e.g., a mesothelioma diagnosis confirmed by the EPI Trust can be used to confirm a Keene diagnosis without re-reviewing the medical information
There are two ways for a law firm to take advantage of
existing CPF data to pre-fill and expedite Keene claim filing.
- Create draft eFile claims and approve the
claims through the eFile website.
To use this method, a law firm should contact the CPF to indicate which
cases from EPI should be used to create draft Keene claims. This is a simple process
during which the CPF will provide a report in Excel format of all paid EPI claims for
which mesothelioma, lung cancer, other cancer or serious asbestosis was confirmed. Based
on that information, the law firm will indicate which draft Keene claims to create.
For example, the law firm may request that
all EPI claims for mesothelioma and lung cancer be used to create draft Keene claims.
Those draft claims will then be created on the eFile system allowing the law firm to go into each claim online,
add any missing data (e.g., product ID), and submit the claim.
- Use CPF data to pre-fill Bulk Upload Template.
A law firm may elect to file many claims at once using the eFile Bulk Upload
Template. This has the advantage of not requiring a person to submit each claim individually through the eFile
system. This can be a great time saver for firms who have their claimant data stored in an electronic system of their
own. An option for these firms is to use data from CPF to supplement data they have to
create the best possible Keene claim submission. For example, a firm may wish
to match confirmed medical data from EPI with specific product identification
for Keene exposure from their own system. The resultant claims can then be submitted
in-bulk to the CPF. In order to get the information they need, the law firm should
contact the CPF to make a customized data extract request.
